What is a Co-op?
The People’s Food Co-op is more than a grocery store; it is a consumer-owned cooperative business. What exactly does that mean? A cooperative business is owned and controlled by the people who use it. Our Co-op currently has over 1700 community members and shoppers who have financially invested in the store, and thus are Co-op owners. Unlike a business owned by an individual, family, or a corporation, profits from the store return to our owners or are used to help the store better serve our community’s needs.
Who shops here?
Everyone does! We encourage vegetarians and bacon-lovers, tall people and short people, those on a budget or with money to burn, people with food allergies or restricted diets, those who love sweets, those who prefer vegetables, people who want their food to come from within 100 miles, people who like to wear hats, and the Co-op curious. Ok… really… anyone and everyone is welcome to join us at the store. We strive to bring you the best, freshest, and tastiest healthy, organic, and local food in the area at reasonable prices.
Can I shop here?
Yes, you can! Everyone is welcome to shop at the Co-op! Just come on in and do your grocery shopping as you would at any other store. If you can’t find what you need or would like some assistance, please ask a friendly staff member (wearing a green or yellow name tag). We love to help!
What will I find at the Co-op?
The People's Food Co-op is a full-service natural grocer. Stop in and you’ll find your usual departments including produce, grocery, deli, bulk, refrigerated, frozen, bakery, health & wellness, and more. We’d love to tell you more about our products.
What sort of payment do you accept?
When you are ready to check out, you are welcome to use cash, check, credit or debit cards, and SNAP (EBT) food assistance benefits. Although we currently do not accept WIC, we hope to do so in the near future. We also have gift certificates available for purchase to help you share the love with friends and family.
